Initially, Floyd Mayweather offered Conor McGregor a huge payday between $10 and $20 million and a cut of PPV revenue to get into the ring. Subsequently, UFC president Dana White hit back with a “real” offer of $25 million and a share of PPV for both of them. White’s counteroffer didn’t really mean anything without a contract. It was the first time he’s publicly expressed interest in the fight.

Mayweather responded to White’s offer with clear disapproval and turned it out in a manner that insulted him. In an interview with TMZ, Floyd gave his response to the White’s offer, saying, “You’re a f**king comedian!“. Furthermore, he proceeded to show his limited edition Hublot LaFerrari watch with an estimated price of $350k. Hence, the message Floyd wanted to pass over was that the number was simply too low for him to settle.

In an interview with The Herd, White made it clear that he would be part of any negotiations surrounding McGregor as the Irishman is contracted to the UFC organization. White stated that McGregor is Mayweather’s money fight, and he is more interested in making this happen as a businessman. Furthermore, Mayweather responded that he sees this fight as the easiest fight in his career and his easiest payday.
