“At least $200M”- Floyd Mayweather details plans of fighting in multiple exhibitions this year

Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather is unarguably one of the biggest superstars in modern boxing. The American boasted a perfect professional record of 50-0 with multiple titles in different weight classes under his name. Mayweather initially announced retirement back in 2017 after successfully defending WBA (Unified), WBC, and The Ring welterweight titles against Andre Berto. But it was pretty clear that the fighter would come back to get the perfect record. As expected, after two years in 2019, Mayweather came back and fought UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The build of the fight was massive because it was the first time two superstars from boxing and MMA were fighting each other. During the build both McGregor and Mayweather went all out in trash talking to each other. This helped create maximum hype around the fight. In the fight, Mayweather beat McGregor via TKO and took home millions of dollars.

It was Mayweather’s last professional bout after that the fighter participated in multiple exhibition bouts. He went to Japan to fight Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 and also fought Logan Paul in 2020. These exhibition bouts were extremely successful and Mayweather earned millions of dollars from them.

It’s been a long time since Mayweather fought in a professional bout which has the capacity to ruin his perfect record. Recently, Mayweather fought his long time training partner Don Moore in an exhibition bout in Abu Dhabi. As expected the event was successful and was watched by many fight fans.

Recently in an interview with Fight Hype, Mayweather confirmed that he is willing to come out of retirement soon. According to the fighter, he is going to be part of three fights in 2022. Mayweather explained, two of them would be exhibition bouts and the remaining one would be a professional fight. He said :

“I’ve got three more exhibitions this year. It could be one fight and two exhibitions. It’s at least $200million.”

The fighter didn’t give any information about the opponents he will be facing in future. However, it will definitely increase the hype around him even more than usual.
