UFC President Dana White is currently running the biggest MMA organization valued at over 12 billion dollars. The UFC head honcho has a net worth of over $500 million himself. However, even he had very humble beginnings. Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather made sure to talk about White’s past when he was first offered a fight against Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather is the second most expensive and successful fight in boxing history. The fight generated $600 million in revenue and made both fighters a ton of money. While it is among the most lucrative fights, Mayweather was very hesitant in signing the deal when it was first offered by White. Before getting paid nearly $280 million, Mayweather was offered a guaranteed salary of $25 million to come out of his retirement and fight McGregor.
However, Mayweather revealed that the money was a little too less and had not been offered anything below $30 million for the last 10 years. He also added that although he respected White for making it big he didn’t want to talk about the fight. The undefeated boxer later brought up Dana White’s past carrying his bags during his interview.
” Dana White I remember you used to carry my bags. Remember Dana White I showed you love, I wore my trunks for you Dana, I’ve always been good to you. Dana White is still an employee but he makes more money than McGregor when he fights,” added Floyd. While Floyd Mayweather was hesitant to come out of his retirement he eventually signed the contract and the rest is history.
Dana White calls out MMA fighter switching to boxing while defending Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg fight
UFC head honcho Dana White openly called out MMA fighters wanting their big paydays via a boxing match. White is playing a pivotal role in the making of a potential bout between two of the biggest tech giants. The talks of META CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Elon Musk have been spreading like wildfire. What started as a simple online spat is turning into possibly the biggest fight in combat sports history.
Dana White openly stated that he is very interested in making the bout. White’s decision was called out by many as the UFC President despises making gimmick fights. However, White has cleared his stance by calling out a few MMA fighters. “This isn’t a gimmick fight. Gimmick is MMA guys going to Boxing and getting beat. We have seen it already and know how it ends. This is a fight between 2 of the most powerful/ richest guys in the world,” said White.
While White wanted to point out the recent trend in combat sports, he also played a huge part in making a gimmick fight. Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor is the second biggest fight in boxing history it generated around 4.3 million sales in PPV and created waves in the world of combat sports. However, according to Dana’s definition, this fight may also fall under gimmicks.
