Naoya Inoue recently secured a knockout victory against Stephen Fulton in Japan. Boxing fans want to know if “The Monster” will move up a weight class to pursue bigger fights. He was already considered the best super-bantamweight boxer before fighting Fulton. This is why his recent achievement has further elevated his status in the boxing world, putting him on par with Gervonta Davis.

Floyd Mayweather also shared his thoughts about the young upcoming fighter in a recent interview. He spoke about how Inoue is a talented fighter without a doubt, but Floyd expressed his apprehension towards his achievements. “What I need Inoue to do is to come fight in the USA, random blood and urine testing. I think he’s a helluva fighter. He takes a lot of stuff from my playbook. But it’s okay, you’re supposed to take from the greats. I would like to see him fight Gervonta Davis at a catchweight,” said Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather stated that he doesn’t like pulling down a fighter, so he is always careful of what he says. Nevertheless, he believed that Inoue’s accomplishments hadn’t reached the level which would earn him the title of a pound-for-pound fighter.

Furthermore, he stated that Inoue hadn’t reached the level of a pound-for-pound fighter, but he surely can prove it by going against Gervonta Davis. Davis himself recently won against Ryan Garcia and is looking for a worthy opponent. The fight might not materialize, but the match-up between the two undefeated remains very intriguing for boxing fans.
