Despite his retirement from professional fighting, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather is still continuing to fight exhibition fights all around the world. While many mock the legend for taking on boxers of a lower level, “Money” Mayweather gives a befitting reply to the haters.
Floyd Mayweather retired from his professional career with a record of 50-0. Despite announcing retirement the undefeated boxer has not entirely hung his gloves up. The 45-year-old is still going strong as he continues to put out huge shows for his fans around the world by fighting in exhibition matches. His recent choice of opponents has been YouTube boxers.
Recently, Mayweather took on British YouTuber, Deji in an exhibition bout held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The boxer put on a show-boating performance against the YouTuber. In the post-fight presser, he was asked about his motive to continue fighting despite a sensational career, and Mayweather’s answer triggered applause from the room full of media members.
“My philosophy is, never stop getting it,” said Floyd Mayweather. “Currency over legacy! Currency over legacy!” emphasized the legendary boxer, who has earned more than a billion dollars in revenue from his boxing career alone. The room of journalists applauded the African-American boxer’s reply before moving on to the next question.
How many exhibition fights does Floyd Mayweather have?
After his second retirement from professional boxing, Mayweather made a final return to fight the UFC superstar Conor McGregor in one of the greatest ever combat sports shows of all time. After his 50-0 record, Mayweather retired from fighting professional boxers and went on to show his skills against exhibition fighters.
Despite being criticized for taking part in unfair matchups, Floyd Mayweather has continued to make a fortune from his exhibition bouts. His first fight was against undefeated kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa at a Rizin event. His next exhibition fight is arguably his biggest fight. The legendary boxer took on one of YouTube’s biggest sensations, Logan Paul, and put on an amazing event.
