George Kambosos and Teofimo Lopez

George Kambosos seems to hold respect for his former opponent, Devin Haney, despite getting destroyed by him in his last two fights. The Australian lost his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles to Haney back in June. However, Kambosos completely despises another one of his opponents, Teofimo Lopez.

Speaking to FightHype.com, Kambosos revealed how he feels about Teofimo. Kambosos believes Teofimo Lopez is a sore loser and couldn’t handle his defeat. He further said, “Between me and Teofimo, he can go f— himself right now …He’s consistently been a spoiled brat. A guy that won’t accept defeat. I beat his ass. I beat him up that bad. I damaged him”. Further, he praised Devin Haney and said, “A very talented fighter…The thing with him is he’s getting better and better. But already what he has right now he’s very good.”

George Kambosos defeated Teofimo Lopez at Madison square garden last year in a Title unification bout. However, Teofimo didn’t accept his defeat and believed that there was some backstage politics playing against him. Eventually, Kambosos lost his championships to Devin Haney and even failed to recapture them in a rematch.

In one of the biggest shockers in recent boxing history, Teofimo Lopez was defeated by George Kambosos in a split decision back in 2021. Teofimo was the favorite coming into the fight.  It almost appeared as though Teofimo Lopez would have a piece of cake but at the end that was far from the case.

However, with a ferocious right-hand strike, the Australian defeated Lopez in the opening round. Although Lopez was able to maintain his composure and remain calm after being knocked down, it was clear that Kambosos was the superior boxer. In the end, George Kambosos walked away with a split-decision victory over Lopez.
