The incident occurred in 2022, and the affected passenger later demanded a substantial amount of money in a settlement. Mike Tyson now faces a $450,000 demand from Melvin Townsend, the man he allegedly punched on a JetBlue plane in 2022. Tyson’s attorney rejected the demand, labeling it a ‘shakedown.’

Townsend’s lawyer, Jake Jondle, sent a ‘prelitigation settlement demand’ to Tyson’s attorney, citing injuries suffered during the incident. Tyson’s legal team dismissed the claim as extortion, indicating the ex-champion’s unwillingness to comply.
