Mike Tyson and Shannon Briggs shared an emotional moment on Tyson’s show discussing their troubled childhood. Tyson shared his family situation while growing up that Shannon Briggs could absolutely relate to.

Mike Tyson shared the emotional story of his upbringing with Shannon Briggs on his show Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. There, he said: 

You have any idea who I am? My mother and father were sex workers. Do you know what a sex worker is? Can you imagine being the kid of sex workers? We're never protected.

Mike Tyson’s mother, Lorna Tyson, was rumored to have been a pr*stitute. It contributed to a challenging childhood for Tyson. The legendary boxer faced harsh conditions growing up in a brothel after his mother’s death, revealing the difficult circumstances of his upbringing. Tyson’s father, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, abandoned him at the age of two, leaving him without paternal support.

Shannon Briggs was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in the Brownsville section. He experienced a challenging childhood. At one point, he was homeless during his early years. As an only child, his mother, Margie, worked as a nurse. However, she struggled with heroin addiction. This added to the difficulties of his upbringing. Despite these hardships, Briggs became a successful professional boxer with a notable record in the ring.

Mike Tyson particularly focuses on improving the lives of those in need, particularly in lower-income communities and children from challenging backgrounds. Coming from a difficult background, Tyson became one of the biggest names in boxing history.

Mike Tyson’s boxing record is notable for his 50-6 professional record, with 44 knockouts. He held the undisputed Heavyweight Boxing Champion title from 1987 to 1990 and became the youngest Heavyweight Champion in history at the age of 20. Tyson turned professional in 1985 after compiling an amateur 24–3 record. His boxing career included 58 bouts, with a total of 215 rounds forever immortalizing him in the sport.
