Nate Diaz made a surprising decision about his upcoming boxing bout. He has decided to withdraw from the proposed rule change for his highly anticipated boxing match against Jake Paul. Initially, Diaz had called for the fight to be extended from eight to ten challenging rounds. However, due to reasons unknown, he has altered his stance on the matter.
Set to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This bout marks the debut of Diaz in the boxing ring. He is an esteemed figure in the MMA community. Diaz departed from the UFC in September of last year after an impressive fifteen-year tenure. His final fight under contract was a submission victory over Tony Ferguson.
Initially scheduled for eight rounds, Diaz recently advocated for a rule modification. This would have extended the fight to a grueling ten rounds. Surprisingly, Paul, the popular YouTuber-turned-boxer, accepted the challenge. He showed his agreement through a tweet, stating, “I guess he has good cardio. Ok Nathan, 10 rounds it is”. However, in his latest tweet, Diaz reversed his position and expressed contentment with the original eight-round format.
Had the proposed rule change been upheld, it would have marked a significant milestone for Jake Paul. He has never competed in a ten-round fight throughout his boxing career. Diaz’s decision to rescind his request comes as a surprise, particularly considering his earlier prediction for the bout. Diaz had confidently asserted that it would occur right from the start or within the subsequent three rounds if he were to be knocked out. He warned Paul that extending the fight beyond that timeframe would put him in deep trouble, implying his chances of victory would diminish significantly.
Jake Paul is making a diss track on Nate Diaz ahead of the fight in August

While Paul has generally displayed respect towards Diaz during the build-up to the fight, their press conference last month did witness some tense moments. At one point, Paul resorted to mocking Diaz when the latter briefly left the stage to use the restroom. Paul brought out a clapping toy monkey, comparing what he believed was happening inside Diaz’s mind.
While settling into his newly acquired $16 million residence in Puerto Rico, Paul plans to utilize his music studio to release a “diss track” aimed explicitly at Diaz as part of the pre-fight promotion. Sharing his intentions, Paul expressed, “The presence of the music studio here means it’s time to create a song again. Maybe even two songs. I want to compose a Nate Diaz diss track and perhaps another track that embodies the fresh vibes straight out of London”.
With Diaz’s decision to revert to an eight-round fight, the anticipation surrounding this clash between the seasoned MMA veteran and the charismatic YouTube personality only continues to grow. Fans eagerly await the moment when these two fighters step into the ring, as their contrasting styles and the underlying animosity promise an enthralling spectacle in the world of combat sports.
