Influencer boxer Jake Paul, and Nate Diaz locked horns for a boxing match this past August. Paul had come out on top with a unanimous decision win over the former UFC star the last time they fought. In the lead-up Paul had suggested that Diaz meet him for an MMA bout following their boxing match, a suggestion that Diaz shrugged off at the time. But recently, Diaz took to X to shred off any associative completely.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Diaz wrote:
And never back track to the minor leagues...Fight urself dipsh*t!

The last fight they had was a 10-round cruiserweight bout. The fight was held under the banner of DAZN Boxing, which is known for hosting influencer rivalries. Earlier in October, Diaz retorted to a recent Paul interview on the Full Send podcast. Paul had charged that Diaz was “ducking” him because Diaz had too much to lose in an MMA fight.
Diaz had firmly proposed they meet for a boxing rematch accordingly, in December. The proposal was that it happen on New Year’s Eve and then have their third fight under MMA rules.
Paul made it to 7-1 with the win over Diaz, rebounding from a split decision skid to rival Tommy Fury. The influencer-turned-fighter holds boxing victories over several MMA standouts, including Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren. Diaz would have had the home advantage had they chosen for an MMA fight.
The lightweight stands at 22-13-0, with a mixed bag of wins and losses. This switch comes off as a deliberate mind game on the part of Diaz. Just two days ago, he had reported on “being ready to fight” that very night against Paul, in a callout.
Jake Paul says next fight ‘will be a boxer with a winning record’ instead of MMA fighters
Social Influencer and boxer Jake Paul has gone up against many to prove his mettle. He had even fought those in UFC itself. One of his latest combat rivalries includes lightweight veteran Nate Diaz.

The two went on a lengthy feud, with Diaz calling him out at the start of November. However, since then, both fighters have switched gear. Diaz thought that Paul would not be ready till 2025, while he is good to go for both boxing and MMA matchups.
But now he has termed Paul as a ‘minor league’ distraction. This could be in retaliation to Paul saying his next opponent would be a boxer who has a winning record, and not of MMA spectrum. Affirming his will for tougher opponents, he took to X and wrote:
Every struggle is personal and the magnitude of that struggle is unique to that person. Don’t judge what someone else is going through. Currently dealing with ‘I’m proud of myself’ and ‘I need to work harder.’ Happy with how far we have come, but hungry to go a lot further...
Paul is to make his return on Dec. 15. But he has no stipulated opponent set against him, for now.
