Boxing may be a sport of power, stamina, and skill, but it is also a chess match. Hence, choosing the opponent at the perfect time is essential for a boxer to succeed. Simultaneously, Rolando Romero chose to face Isaac Cruz instead of Ryan Garcia, whom Romero was originally in talks to fight with. Furthermore, Romero has now claimed that a fight against Cruz is much tougher than Garcia.
It’s difficult to decide who is the better fighter, considering Garcia has only one loss on his record, against Gervonta Davis. Similarly, Cruz has two losses on his professional record, and one of them was against Davis. However, it appears that Romero has figured out who the tougher opponent is and why they are better. In an interview with ES News, Romero stated:
I decided to go with ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, a much more difficult fight. A much more durable fighter and a much more dangerous fighter. Pitbull's Cruz will just come and swing; he is a much more difficult fight than Ryan.Rolando Romero said
Hence, Romero boldly proclaimed that Cruz was a much more difficult challenge to him than to Garcia. Furthermore, Romero justified his claims by stating that Cruz is a more durable fighter and has an aggressive fighting style.
Subsequently, while Romero and Cruz are set to fight, this leaves Garcia with no potential opponents for his April bout. However, his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, recently claimed that he would be making a big announcement about Garcia’s next opponent.
Rolando Romero talks about Ryan Garica
Romero, one of the world’s best boxers, recently took a verbal shot at Garcia. Initially, Garcia was supposed to fight Devin Haney, but he dropped that idea, in order to fight Romero. Subsequently, Garcia and his promoter went into a tug-of-war over this, and negotiations with Romero failed.
Furthermore, in an exclusive interview with ES News, Romero discussed the failed negotiations for a highly anticipated showdown with Garcia. Romero revealed that their teams were engaging in talks for a fight, but nothing was finalized and no contracts were signed. In addition, Romero stated that Garcia needs to fix his team because of the communication gap that exists between them.
After suggesting that Garcia’s team provided him with misinformation, Romero stated that Garcia should have just called him directly. Romero even stated that in the future Garcia and him could face enough others inside the ring and sounded optimistic about it.
