Garcia responds to Mayweather and Alvarez
Ryan Garcia is in a peculiar position after having severed ties with his mentor, Canelo Alvarez. Recently, Floyd Mayweather, one of Alvarez biggest foes came to the defense of the middleweight in the ongoing fued between the former Golden Boy stablemates.
During an interview where Mayweather was about the current dynamic between Garcia and Alvarez, Mayweather let his mind be known in a lengthy response, laying heavy criticism on the young boxer. He said, “You see Ryan Garcia, first he’s praising Canelo. Right? He wanna learn from Canelo. You’re in Canelo’s training camp. Now it’s all hate. Oh I don’t like him. I don’t like this. I don’t like him”
Mayweather continued, saying, “Accomplish what Canelo has accomplished, then speak bad about him. You know what I mean? But you don’t need to speak bad about him anyway because we all need to stay in our own lane and do us.” Mayweather felt it was wrong on Garcia’s part to bad mouth the person who gave him a gym to train and imparted his knowledge to him.
“So you really shouldn’t speak bad about him if you went to his camp to learn from him and to be his student. One thing about Canelo, he’s gonna step up to the plate and do what he gotta do. He’s gonna fight, “ said Mayweather, appreciating Canelo’s ability to step up to the challenge unlike Garcia who is still to be tested.

Today the young boxer responded to Mayweather’s comments, expressing displeasure at two greats ganging up on him he said, “They need the Avengers to stop me, they need the Avengers to stop me from talking.” Stressing on the fact that he’ll keep talking his mind, Garcia continued, “It could be Floyd, it could be Canelo, throw in all the GOATs, they need them all. They can’t stop me.”
Garcia has said that he wishes to face Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez among his top-3 dream fights. Since Garcia is still a part of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar DeLahoya has been trying to make the fight between Garcia and Alvarez happen though he is smart enough to not throw his pupil to Canelo immediately
In his last fight against former Lightweight Champion, Emmanuel Tagoe, Garcia displayed his boxing abilities were still crisp despite the layoff. However, fans are doubtful if he’ll be able to perform at the same level against the elites of his division.
