Superstar boxer Gervonta Davis arrested on suspicion of domestic violence ahead of much-anticipated fight

Boxer Gervonta Davis has been arrested recently on suspicion of domestic violence. It is only a week and a half before he faces opponent Hector Luis Garcia in a boxing match.

The lightweight fighter is one of the world’s most famous boxers and has not been a stranger to controversies. The Parkland Police have arrested Gervonta Davis in Florida on suspicion of domestic abuse. The fighter has been booked into Broward County Jail, according to the online records. The official charge turns out to be Battery Causing Bodily Harm with Domestic violence.

The fighter’s mugshot has also been uploaded to the official records. The arrest date on the record reads 12/27/2022. The fighter was scheduled to face Hector Luis Garcia in a boxing match on January 7th. This fight was announced by the fighter himself on his Instagram account. The fight was scheduled to take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

This fight was announced following the reports that Davis would take on another superstar, Ryan Garcia in April 2023. The fight between Davis and Hector Garcia now looks to be doubtful following the fighter’s arrest. Gervonta Davis has previously been accused of physically abusing his partner and the mother of his child.

Gervonta Davis’ troubles with the law

The popular boxer has previously held championships in three weight divisions. The fighter was the former WBA super featherweight champ and also the WBA lightweight champ. The 28-year-old has received praise all over the world for his talents but has also run into trouble with the law many times. This is not the first time Davis has been caught abusing his partner.

Back in 2020, Davis’s partner, who also is the mother of his child was publicly abused by the fighter. A fan from the stands recorded a video of the fighter choking his partner in front of the crowd and dragging her out. Reports later revealed he was upset about his partner sitting with Floyd Mayweather‘s team.

The fighter also has been arrested on multiple charges of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend in 2020. The fighter was also alleged to have met with a hit-and-run case back in 2021. More reports from the authorities confirming the recent domestic violence arrest are yet to surface.
