Francis Ngannou will face Tyson Fury in a heavyweight bout on October 28th in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. In addition, the crossover boxing match will be Ngannou’s professional boxing debut after signing with the PFL.

Furthermore, before announcing this fight, boxing fans were anticipating Fury’s next opponent. Logically, Fury should fight Oleksandr Usyk, who currently holds the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO belts that he won from Anthony Joshua in 2021. Hence, a potential unification bout of the heavyweight belts in an undisputed clash between the two boxers has been inevitable. Subsequently, Fury and Usyk have finally agreed to fight for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion. In addition, the match will be held at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia on December 23.

Even when Joshua held the belts, Fury explicitly stated several times that he was not interested in an undisputed clash. Subsequently, Fury had recently stated that fighting Usyk was not worth it for him. In addition, Fury stated that Usyk has a lot more to gain from that fight compared to him. However, Tyson’s father, John Fury, had recently commented about his son’s disinterest in a potential undisputed heavyweight clash.

John had stated that Tyson’s mood changes like the weather and he should not be taken that seriously. Hence, John’s prediction about his son came true, and the world will behold the first undisputed heavyweight champion after Lennox Lewis in 1999.

John Fury comments on Francis Ngannou’s boxing

The former UFC heavyweight champion will fight the unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion of the world in a crossover boxing match. However, the WBC heavyweight title will not be at stake since Ngannou is not a typical boxing contender.

Furthermore, Mike Tyson has involved himself as Ngannou’s trainer as he transitions from the MMA world to the boxing world. People doubt if Ngannou is a worthy opponent for Fury since he has no prior experience in boxing. Recently, during a media workout in Las Vegas, Ngannou’s boxing skills left John astonished. Subsequently, John stated that he hopes the open workout was a joke otherwise, Ngannou has no chance of winning. In addition, John stated that this might be Tyson’s quickest KO and that the fight might end in the first round.

John’s comments about Ngannou reflect how many people consider this fight a mismatch. However, Mike Tyson himself believes that Ngannou has a lot of power, and he is going to shock the world.
