“He’s coming to camp,” Tyson Fury will train with this ex-Manchester United star for the upcoming Oleksandr Usyk mega-bout

Tyson Fury can unanimously be regarded as the people’s champion in boxing – as such, he joins an unofficial list containing a whole slew of legends just like him, including Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.
In his latest fight against Derek Chisora, Fury looked absolutely indomitable – from the beginning till the end, it felt like “The Gypsy King” had Chisora’s number, who was badly hurt on multiple occasions. The anti-climactic end came in the 10th round when the referee felt he had seen enough, just after Fury had landed a crisp jab.
For those thinking as to why the world heavyweight champion waited so long to finish the fight, the answer simply is that the best boxers accumulate damage on their opponents, till all of its percolates into an inability to function effectively. Moving forward, although the Anthony Joshua fight fell through, Fury verbally agreed to fight Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in a staredown between the two after the former’s fight.
Preparing for Usyk will be a challenge for Fury, as the Ukrainian pugilist is more of a skilled fighter than a pure knockout artist. Additionally, there is a height disparity between the two – the Briton comes in at 6’9 while his future opponent is 6’3. However, it seems like Fury already has a training partner to help him deal with the disparity.
Speaking about it, he said, “I know [Wayne] Rooney is a big boxing fan and he also comes from a boxing family… I need someone smaller to get me ready for Usyk. Wayne, if you’re listening, get going, son!” He also told ITV, “I spoke to Wayne and he’s told me he looks well up for it. But he’s right-handed, so he has to change to fight left-handed… We’re going to bring Wayne in for the preparation against Oleksandr Usyk. Am I joking? No, he’s very very serious. He’s coming to camp for about four weeks to help me.”
Boxing fans can’t contain their excitement at the prospect of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney training with Tyson Fury

Needless to say, when two worlds collide in the world of sport, it has mutual fans begging to see more. And this is definitely the case with Tyson Fury deciding to spar with Wayne Rooney as well. Find some of the best (and, most hilarious) reactions attached below.
The Tyson Fury – Oleksandr Usyk fight is expected to happen sometime in the first half of next year. Usyk must not be taken lightly by the Briton, as was evident by his two wins over Anthony Joshua, wherein he completely dismantled any tactic “AJ” had come to the ring with.
Accordingly, it will be interesting to see if sparring with Wayne Rooney will be able to present a tactical advantage to Fury. Fury is undefeated in his career. However, could Usyk deliver to him his very first loss, or will it be yet another KO for “The Gypsy King”? The months of anxiety in between, for boxing fans, will be palpable and extremely telling.
