“We’re On the Same Page” Tyson Fury’s promoter gives a huge update on Anthony Joshua bout agreement

Joshua and Fury have verbally agreed to a late November date

Seems like the anticipated bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally be taking place but not in the way we expected. The fight between the two behemoths was among the most anticipated fights in boxing history until a few years ago but has lost some of its appeal since then.

While the biggest factor may be Joshua losing his titles and not remaining undefeated, the constant delays have also been a huge factor in turning away the public’s attention. Moreover, the fans have blocked out any talk of the event as Fury is known to use it to make people talk about him, even without intending to take the fight.

Notably he did this in 2021 when Fury announced to the world that a deal between him and Joshua was a done deal for late 2021, also thanking Daniel Kinahan personally for getting the deal done. All this while Fury was well aware that he had a mandatory defense against Wilder pending that would block all the talk about a Joshua x Fury bout.

Frank Warren says Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua “WILL HAPPEN”

Anthony Joshua x Tyson Fury
Joshua showed immense development but still cam up short in his rematch against Usyk.

However, now the pieces finally seem to fall right into place. With his most recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk after his rematch against the Ukrainian, Joshua is stuck in a peculiar place. He can either retire at this point with the wealth he has accumulated or he can challenge the fighters he’s never faced and make money and a name for himself while he still has the time.

He intends to do none of that but instead jumps right back into the title picture, albeit for a different one. Joshua has officially been ranked #6 among the WBC contenders and is likely a welcomed step in making the bout happen. Both Fury and Joshua have had back and forths over the details of the bout with the current understanding being they are targeting a late November, early December date.

Joshua’s team recently confirmed that they had agreed to all of Fury’s bout conditions and had only kept the news private due to the death of the Queen. They also hinged that the venue too had been decided and now only a broadcaster was to be decided on although a co-promotion between DAZN and BT seems likely.

According to Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren the signs are looking better than ever with the negotiations going smoothly on both sides . When asked by TalkSport if there was anything that would lead him to believe that the fight won’t take place, Warren replied with a comforting answer.

“No… For once we’re all on the same page… There’s a great will here by everybody, and I think it will happen.” said the long-time boxing promoter about the current state of negotiations. He however cautioned that bouts can fa apart even in the very last minute saying, “But until you’ve got it signed, you’ve got nothing.”
