Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk are set to take on each other on August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The fight had been on the table for a long time now but due to some reason, it got delayed. One of the major reasons is, that Usyk going back to his country Ukraine for the war against Russia. The fighter got enlisted in the Ukrainian army and was involved during the invasion.
The pair last fought one another last year on September 25th inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London. Usyk challenged AJ for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. Usyk was smaller in size and was not the favourite going into the fight. However, the Ukrainian performed incredibly and defeated AJ in front of his home crowd.
For AJ it is an opportunity to get revenge for the humiliation he faced last time and the fighter had made changes accordingly. Joshua is currently training under Robert Garcia who is focusing more on Joshua’s offensive powers.
Ahead of the fight, Joshua claimed he is much more focused and motivated for the win.
” I now have my date with history set to become three-time unified heavyweight champion of the world. What an opportunity… A happy fighter is a dangerous fighter and I am the happiest and most motivated I’ve been.”
