Mike Tyson said that he wanted to face Achilles

Mike Tyson is undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters in the modern era. Tyson is the youngest boxer to win the world heavyweight championship. His accomplishments in combat sports had earned him the nickname Iron Mike. Throughout his career Tyson had won 55 wins 40 of whichever via knockouts. However, Mike Tyson revealed his desire to fight the only warrior from history.

When asked about how he would like to fight from history, Speaking on an episode of ‘Hotboxin with Mike’, “Iron Mike” said that he wanted to face Achilles. Tyson believed that Achilles was one of the Greatest warriors and his power rivaled that of gods. He also wanted to visit Achilleion( considered the place where Achilles was buried in mythology) to pay Achilles a tribute. In the episode Tyson also discussed the mighty gladiators of Greece and their formidable spirits.

The feat of Achilles might only be in the legends but that of Mike Tyson is real. Mike Tyson was known throughout his career for his ferocious and intimidating style. He was also infamous for begin the hardest-hitting boxer in the Heavyweight division striking fear inside his opponent.

Mike Tyson revealed the toughest opponents he faced

In the same episode of ‘Hotboxin’with Mike‘, the boxing legend revealed the toughest opponents of his career. Being asked by his guest Stephen Fulton on the episode, Mike surprisingly replied, “Me“. Mike believes he himself was the toughest opponent he had to face all along in his career.

When asked to name some of the best opponents he’s faced in the ring, Tyson mentioned Donovan Ruddock, Lennox Lewis, and Evander Holyfield, though he didn’t say whether he was referring to their 1996 initial encounter or the infamous 1997 rematch in which Holyfield famously bit off a piece of his opponent’s ear.

The next fight he mentioned was his match against Andrew Golota in 2000, which stands out in his recollection because it was the only one he participated in while using marijuana. He made a joke about Golota withdrawing after the first round, saying, “It didn’t last long.. thought, this guy wasn’t worth training for… He’s a prick.”

Mike won 19 of his first professional fight by knockouts proving how tough of an opponent he was. He was also the first boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, IBF, and WBC world heavyweight championships. Mike Tyson will forever be known as a  GOAT as long as boxing as a sport exists on this planet.
