Jake Paul hails from the world of celebrity boxing but he has established himself in the sport of boxing well enough to be considered a professional boxer at this stage of his career. Wins over former MMA legends like Ben Askren and beating Tryon Woodly has garnered him a lot of respect in the boxing community. Including the boxing legend, Oscar De La Hoya.

Former six-division world champion Oscar De La Hoya is very vocal about his opinions related to the sport of boxing. He has had his tussle over the years with celebrity boxing matches. However, his judgment of paul is distinctive. In an interview with TMZ, the former champion claimed that Jake is not only good for boxing but also a threat to the boxing world champions. He seems to be very impressed with the vehemence and dedication showed by Paul for the sport.

In the interview, he stated, “Let me tell you one thing about Jake Paul. He’s the real deal. I’m gonna tell you that, with only four or five fights, and the way he’s taking it serious. Jake Paul is the real deal. And I dare anyone who has boxing experience who has MMA experience to call him out, ’cause I’ll tell you one thing, this guy can beat a lot of good champions, and even great champions.

Considering the years it takes to master the sweet science of boxing and the fact that it’s just been 2 and a half years since Paul turned professional, the chances of Paul becoming a world champion are highly unlikely.

However, there have been some speculations that the next potential opponent of Jake Paul would be Chavez Jr. A fight against Chavez Jr. would be very interesting as an opponent of this level of experience and skill set is rare to find in the opponents of Jake Paul.

If he is indeed successful in beating the boxing legend Chavez Jr. he would truly be legitimized in the sport and the claim made by Oscar De La Hoya would be little more substantiated. Needless to say, it would be very exciting to witness how fair he is against opponents with substantial boxing pedigree.
