The fight between Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather was one of the rarest times when ‘Money’ was actually in some danger. In an interview with ESPN, Mosley gave a detailed analysis of the fight and how the results could have been way different. Describing the second round, Mosley revealed that Mayweather made the mistake of getting comfortable with Mosley’s power which backfired.

He said: “In the second, he’s starting to feel confident that he can take my shots and he’s coming to me a little bit more. He’s trying to be a little bit stronger, be more aggressive. I think his aggression turned against him because he sort of stepped to me a little more — and that’s when I was able to catch him with the big right hand. And then with the next right hand, I buckled him a second time. I was like, “Oh, he’s ready to go out. I’m ready to knock him out.”

He would’ve been knocked out,” said Mosley.

According to Mosley, after the second round, Mayweather recovered immediately and became way more cautious and ultimately managed to win the bout via unanimous decision.
