The 2024 edition of LIV Golf Adelaide saw another first time winner on the breakaway tour as Brendan Steele claimed his first victory. The American international saw off some high pressure to land his maiden LIV Golf title.

The three-time PGA Tour winner became the first member of the HyFlyers GC to celebrate a victory. Since the inception of the league in 2022, the Phil Mickelson led side had not won any individual or team championship.

Steele fired a score of 4-under during the final round at the Grange Golf Club to finish the event 18-under 198. He held off the South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen to win the title by one shot. His victory along with the strong performances of his teammate Andy Ogletree and Cameron Tringale saw the HyFlyers finish third in the team event.

After the round, Steele claimed he just needed to play with freedom. He had fired a score of 8-under 64 on Round 2 to take a one-shot lead into the final round.

Yeah, I was telling myself that I knew there was going to be hard moments today regardless of the result and that I just needed to get back in there and start playing with freedom again. And, and I was able to hit some good shots after that and write the show.
Brendan Steele said as per AP News.

How much money will Brendan Steele collect after winning LIV Golf Adelaide?

Following his victory from Australia, Brendan Steele pocketed a sum of $4 million from the $25 million purse. However, there is one major catch in this.

Steele won’t receive the full $4 million unlike the other LIV Golf events. He will get a huge cut (almost 50 per cent) and receive a sum of $2.2 million for this effort. The reason behind is the Australian tax laws.

Last season Talor Gooch faced the same setback from winning this event. Gooch earned $2.1 million from his victory and called it “little bit disheartening“.

I am by no means complaining, but the four [million dollars], once you cut it all up, let’s just say that it’s a lot less than four.
Talor Gooch said on Fore Play Podcast.

This year, Steele is the man who will earn less despite being on top of everyone. Well, he can brace this up with a huge trophy lift as he earned his team their first podium finish, nearly three years after the start of the 54-hole circuit.
