Brian Ortega is seemingly next in line for a featherweight title shot following his impressive unanimous decision victory over The Korean Zombie earlier this month in UFC Fight Island 6 main event.

We could see Alexander Volkanovski vs Brian Ortega early next year in 2021. Although nothing is confirmed, it was virtually guaranteed by UFC president Dana White. Volkanovski later posted that February sounded good to him and that seems to be the case with Ortega too who called it a hell of a fight.

“That’s a hell of a fight (against Volkanovski),” Ortega told UFC Unfiltered. “He said February. From what I’ve seen on the Internet, Volkanovski said he’ll be ready in February. So we’ll see what happens, exactly right. We’ll see when he talks to Dana (White) or whoever he talks to and we’ll see what date comes up, or where and when, that’s the big question.”

Prior to burying “The Korean Zombie,” Brian Ortega suffered the first defeat of his professional career in a lopsided loss to Holloway at UFC 231. But after fight against Jung, most of the MMA fanbase convinced “T-City” can give the champ a run for his money.

With the UFC already starting to book its early 2021 schedule, look for the UFC to book Volkanovski’s next title defense soon. One card that makes sense is UFC 258 in February. UFC 258 seems like it could be the eventual home for the Volkanovski vs Ortega featherweight title matchup.
