Brock Lesnar suffered one of the worst defeats of his legendary in-ring career against Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday. In a match that went under 5 minutes on the clock, ‘The Ruler’ came across as near invincible, barring a flurry of German Suplexes that troubled Femi but not quite. Even the F-5 had no effect on Oba, who no-sold Lesnar’s finishing maneuver.

‘The Bringer of War’ pinned the 10-time world champion after a chokeslam and followed it up with Fall from Grace. And just like that, Femi showed Lesnar that he had indeed taken over. While the match served its purpose of ‘The Beast’ putting Femi over in such a major way, what transpired afterwards was shocking.

A crestfallen Lesnar took off his wrestling gloves and boots while weeping in the middle of that ring. The fans were chanting against it, but Lesnar left his belongings in the middle of the ring to indicate that he was done as a wrestler. The Conqueror’s longtime manager and friend, Paul Heyman, snuck into the ring and hugged it out with Lesnar in an emotional embrace.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion waved at the WrestleMania crowd and basked in their adulation before exiting the ring and greeting some fans along the way on the entrance ramp. Heyman was wrecked, and one could see it on his face. While Lesnar had composed himself by then, ‘The Wiseman’ seemed more devastated about Brock Lesnar‘s apparent WWE retirement.

Why apparent? It’s because WWE still hasn’t confirmed in an official capacity whether the 48-year-old is retired or not. In fact, during the WrestleMania post-show, a graphic appeared on the screen mentioning that The Beast’s WWE future is uncertain. Fightful reported in the aftermath that people in WWE were expecting ‘The One in 21-1’ to retire at this year’s SummerSlam in his home state of Minnesota.

The fans are under the impression that Lesnar will wrestle one more match before calling it a day, and that’s likely to be against Gunther, who’s entitled to a favor from Heyman for saving him from Seth Rollins. WWE could run a storyline where ‘The Ring General’ goads ‘The Beast Incarnate’ out of retirement for one last match by demanding Lesnar put his career on the line.

Kurt Angle sends a message to Brock Lesnar after his WrestleMania shocker

One of Brock Lesnar’s greatest wrestling rivals has sent in his best wishes to ‘The Beast’ upon his implicit retirement that he evoked at WrestleMania. And that man is none other than the one that Lesnar defeated to win this second world title in WWE at WrestleMania 19—Kurt Angle.

The former GM of Raw posted a picture of himself with Lesnar from their aforementioned WrestleMania match. Angle wrote in the caption that there will never be another Brock Lesnar. Angle kept it crisp and added, “Enjoy retirement Brock” at the end.

At this point in time, no one knows for sure if Lesnar has actually wrestled his last match. His latest one against Oba Femi will be remembered as one of the most selfless displays from Lesnar in a long time. BodySlam reported that he handpicked Femi to work with at the Grandest Stage of Them All this year.

It’s not lost on anyone that Lesnar didn’t once stand tall over Femi in any interaction that he had with ‘The Ruler’ over the past couple of months. It goes to show that the WWE legend viewed Oba Femi as the next big thing in this business and wanted to pass the torch to him.
