Last week, Bryce Harper found himself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons after a video of him went viral. Before the 2026 All-Star Game, the Philadelphia Phillies star broke his silence and accused FanDuel of unauthorized video use.
In a video acquired by The Philadelphia Inquirer, Harper can be seen sending a message to a person named “Terry.” The video has the logo of FanDuel. However, the 2-time National League MVP is not seen wearing any merch of theirs.

As per reports, there are no records of a partnership between Harper and FanDuel. Initially, he and his camp remained silent and did not make any comments.
On Monday, Harper finally addressed this. The 33-year-old took to his Instagram stories and revealed that the video of him was used without his consent.
He claimed that someone named “Bryttanni” submitted an order through Cameo for a personal “holiday video for Terry.” He added that he would not have made the video if he knew the true intentions of FanDuel.
The request included a short script. I read it in good faith. FanDuel then put its own logo on the video and used it as a gambling promotion. I did not know FanDuel would do this, I did not consent to it, and FanDuel had no right to do it.
Bryce Harper said in his statement

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, a bettor identified as Terry Thompson got addicted to sports gambling in 2020. He had wagered over $18.5 million and lost $1.5 million.
With the amount of losses, Terry contemplated taking his own life. The police eventually intervened in time and stopped him from taking any extreme steps.
The Public Health Advocacy Institute has filed a lawsuit on Thompson’s behalf against FanDuel and DraftKings. Harper is not named in this lawsuit.
Bryce Harper suffers first-round elimination from Home Run Derby
After earning a 9th All-Star selection through the Legend Pick by Commissioner Rob Manfred, Bryce Harper entered the Home Run Derby this year. His stay did not last long, though, as he suffered a first-round exit.

Among the 8 participants, Harper was the only one who had won this event before. In 2018, while he was still a Washington Nationals star, he won the Home Run Derby in front of the home fans at Nationals Park.
In the final round, he defeated his now-teammate Kyle Schwarber. The two of them had huge support from the Philadelphia crowd on Monday. The fans at Citizens Bank Park roared in delight when the two of them stepped up to the plate.
While Schwarber advanced to the next round, Harper was eliminated in the first round. He managed just 8 home runs and failed to progress further. One of them, however, was a huge 482-foot blast, leaving everyone awestruck.

Later, Harper expressed that he was done with the Home Run Derby. He told the reporters that he would not participate in any more of them in the future.

As the Home Run Derby went on, he would join his teammates on the sidelines and cheer for Schwarber. At one stage, he believed that the 2026 home run leader had the trophy in his bag, as he had 7 home runs with 5 swings remaining.

Eventually, Schwarber finished with 11 home runs. After a slow start, Jordan Walker got hot and smashed 6 consecutive home runs, with 4 of them coming with him down to his last swing, and stunned the crowd to win the Home Run Derby.
