Bryson DeChambeau’s Desire to Play on PGA Tour Amid LIV Golf’s New Era Leaves Fans Baffled: “His Lack of Self Awareness Is Staggering”
Bryson DeChambeau was one of the high profile names that left the PGA Tour and joined LIV Golf in 2022.

On Friday, Bryson DeChambeau spoke about the future of LIV Golf. During an interview with the New York Post, the 2-time major champion expressed his desire to play on the PGA Tour as his current league gets ready to usher in a new era.
In April this year, LIV Golf suffered a massive blow as the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia withdraw their financial support to the league. The Saudis had invested over $5 billion since the launch of the breakaway tour.
This led to them looking for a new investor. Earlier this week, CEO Scott O’Neil revealed that the league had found a lead investor.
In a statement, the executive claimed that the league had not only secured finances for the next season but also informed that the players will become major equity holders. DeChambeau, who was one of the top names to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf in 2022, was reported to have held a players-only meeting this week.
At the LIV Golf New York event at Trump Bedminster, DeChambeau fired an opening round score of 77. He then had an interview with the New York Post (subscription required) on Friday.
During this, the American international claimed that his ultimate goal was to have golf course stadiums like the PGA Tour’s TPC Sawgrass. He wants the LIV Golf teams to have their own golf course as a stadium.
He then went on to express his desire to play in the PGA Tour events too. Since his move to LIV Golf, he has been suspended by the Tour.
Personally, I’d love to be able to play events on the PGA Tour, too. I think that’s best for golf. I’d love that. It’s not an either/or mentality. It’s ‘can we do both?’ I think that’s where everybody wants to be.
Bryson DeChambeau said
🚨🗣️⛳️ #NEW — In an exclusive with @nypost, LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau says he wants to see LIV Golf teams own ‘stadium’ home courses and also wants to have the ability to play on the PGA Tour in addition to LIV.

At the moment, the only PGA Tour-sanctioned events he plays are the 4 major championships. This year, he did not have a good time at the majors.
He missed the cut at the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open. This marked the first time in his career that he had missed the cut in 3 straight majors.
At the 154th Open Championship, he did make the cut. However, his name was in the headlines all week following his 2-stroke penalty in the second round. He eventually finished T14 with a 4-under par score for the tournament.
Social media reacts to Bryson DeChambeau’s comments
Bryson DeChambeau made a huge comment regarding the PGA Tour this week. Him stating that he would love to play in PGA Tour events left several fans on social media baffled.

Several users on X bashed the golfer for this comment. One user wrote, “his lack of self awareness is staggering” while making their feelings known.
Check out that and some more reactions regarding this development below:
his lack of self awareness is staggering

Here’s one golf fan that does not care if you’re around. You’re not bigger than the sport, do what you want. Go be a YouTube golfer, you’re great at it, just not so good with touch and feel of golf.

Bryson’s lack of self awareness needs to be studied. He thinks he is Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus wrapped together. He is more like Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson wrapped together. Not to mention, 1/2 of the tour thinks he is a freak show. Go play YouTube

This guy is insufferable.. he’s gonna end up the CEO of LIV and will go down with the ship..

But he exhausts me sometimes…
No. He can go play liv 2 and be irrelevant as usual

Bryson, are you reading what people think about you? You’re really a nothing. A non event. You really think there’s not a golf fan on the planet who doesn’t want to see you play? You’re a sick puppy pal.

Loser wants to have his cake and eat it too 😭

The PGA Tour doesn’t need Bryson, but he may end up needing them.

LIV can’t even afford to keep the lights on, but you think they can afford to build a bunch of courses around the world? Lol

Plus, there isn’t any PGA guys that are wanting to play in some LIV events.
This is not the first time he faced some heat this week. On Thursday, he found himself under backlash after throwing a water bottle on a table in frustration following a shot.
Bryson DeChambeau had snubbed the chance to return to the PGA Tour earlier this season
Bryson DeChambeau pointed out that he would love to play in PGA Tour events too. Earlier this year, he did have a chance to return to them. However, he snubbed that opportunity.

In December 2025, Brooks Koepka stunned the golf world by requesting his release from LIV Golf. Following his exit from the tour, the 5-time major champion applied to be reinstated to the PGA Tour.
A few days later, he was back on the PGA Tour through the Returning Member Program. As per this, a player who had won either The Players Championship or any one of the 4 majors since 2022 and was away for 2 years could apply to be reinstated.
DeChambeau did meet the criteria for this due to his victory at the 2024 U.S. Open. He, though, decided not to use this window to return to the PGA Tour and stayed with LIV Golf, claiming that he had a contract until this year.

Since those comments in January, a lot has changed on LIV Golf. It now remains to be seen what his and his league’s future holds following these new investment reports.
