Bryson DeChambeau is apparently not having a good time with the golf media. On Wednesday, reports emerged that he kicked out a media member from the practice range before the LIV Golf Indianapolis event at The Club at Chatham Hills.

As per reports, Ryan French, who runs the X account @acaseofthegolf1, was present on the range. He was filming some swings of the golfer.

This was something that frustrated DeChambeau. Crossroad Sports owner Brandon Reef reported on X that a member of DeChambeau’s team then kicked French out of the premises.

A few moments later, French confirmed this incident. While reposting Reef’s tweet, he stated that he was “booted” out of the range and made a light-hearted joke.

Got booted off the range by Bryson today. #1,892 on the list of what the hell has happened to my life.

DeChambeau found himself under heat for this. Many social media users called out the Crushers GC captain and slammed him for this behavior.

Hours later, French revealed that he received a call from DeChambeau. Though he did not get into details about the conversation, he applauded the golfer for taking this action.

Bryson gave me a call this afternoon, we spoke for about 20 mins. While the conversation will remain off the record, I really appreciate him calling. A lot of players wouldn’t have done that.

DeChambeau has had some issues with the media in recent times. He has not spoken with traditional media at major championships since The Masters. He has often skipped the pre-tournament and post-round interviews and has mostly spoken through his YouTube channel.

Bryson DeChambeau also called the media the “mafia”

Bryson DeChambeau found himself in controversy after he reportedly booted out media member Ryan French from the practice range. Just a day before this, he was reported to have called the media the “mafia.”

As per reports from Golf.com, reporter Sean Zak was among one of those present at the Club at Chatham Hills. As he arrived with others on the course, DeChambeau was quoted as calling them “mafia.”

Oooh, the mafia has arrived. The mafia. You guys love talking (expletive)

However, as per Zak, it was more of a banter between the media and DeChambeau. Zak stated that the golfer remains frustrated with how some of his comments have been reported in recent times.

This week will be LIV Golf’s final event of the 2026 season. Last week, the tour officially confirmed the cancellation of the Team Championship event at The Cardinal in Michigan.

Speaking of DeChambeau, he lost out on the LIV Golf Individual title to Jon Rahm. Following the LIV Golf New York event, the American international was 218 points behind the Spaniard in second place.

He will now look to have a strong finish to the season and secure a podium finish. After this, he will play in the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa in December.

What happens after that remains to be seen. During the 2026 season, he was in the final year of his contract with LIV Golf and had been in talks over a new deal before the Public Investment Fund (PIF) withdrew their finanical support.
