Bryson DeChambeau‘s contract situation with LIV Golf has been a major talking point this year. Amid reports of him leaving the Saudi-backed tour, the golfer broke his silence and revealed to be working on a contract renewal.
The 2-time major champion is currently in the final year of his deal. He was one of the marquee names from the PGA Tour who left them in 2022 to join LIV Golf.
Since last year, there have been several speculations regarding his future. A report, which was later debunked, claimed that the American golfer would leave the breakaway tour and return to the PGA Tour in 2026 after the league declined a $280 million contract.
A few days back, he once again found his name in these talks. According to reports from The Athletic, DeChambeau and his team spent a part of the Masters Tournament week talking to organizers and exploring possible options if he were to leave LIV Golf.

Golfers Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter later hit out at these reports. The two Majesticks GC stars took a swipe at this and called it bull****.
On Wednesday, Golf Insider Tom Hobbs opened up about DeChambeau’s interview with Flushing It Golf. During this, the 32-year-old golfer expressed that he was still working on a contract renewal and that he had not given up on it yet.
We’re still working on a potential contract. I haven’t given up on that and I think there will be a solution. But as of right now, my job is to help make the league work after this year.

Bryson DeChambeau has been the face of LIV Golf since joining in 2022. He regularly faces media and has been the most outspoken player in regard to how much he believes in the product. These words from DeChambeau also come at a time when LIV Golf’s own future is in doubt. Following the 2026 Masters Tournament, a report from The Financial Times claimed that the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, was about to pull the plug on them and stop their funding.
As per reports, the PIF has invested over $5 billion in LIV Golf. This amount is estimated to cross the $6 billion mark by the end of this year.
Bryson DeChambeau remains committed to LIV Golf
Bryson DeChambeau is not going anywhere for the time being, atleast. Despite rumors of his league closing down in the future, the golfer has remained committed to LIV Golf.

In the interview with Flushing It Golf, the 5-time LIV Golf winner spoke on the current situation of the league. During this, he claimed he would do everything in his power to make it work.
There’s a lot of moving parts like in any business. It’s a startup, right? And so there’s going to be times where we’re squeezed and punched. This is one of those moments. But I’m going to do everything in my power to make it work and I really see the value in franchise golf.

Earlier this year, DeChambeau had a chance to leave LIV Golf. Following the departure of Brooks Koepka, the PGA Tour introduced a one-time Returning Members Program. As per this, golfers who had won the The Players Championship or any one of the 4 majors and had been away for 2 years could return.
While Koepka thus returned as the 2023 PGA Championship winner, DeChambeau could have joined him through his 2024 victory at the U.S. Open. However, he snubbed the chance to do so and cited that he was contracted through the 2026 season.
Speaking of the 2026 season, he has experienced both the highs and the lows. Before the Masters Tournament, he claimed back-to-back wins in Singapore and South Africa.
After that, he suffered a major setback at the Augusta National. A triple bogey on the 18th hole in the second round saw him drop below the cutline and miss the cut in the first major of the year by finishing with a 6-over par. In the LIV Golf Mexico event, he withdrew from the tournament after the third round following a wrist injury.
