- Caitlin Clark's Nike Kobe 5 'Rookie of the Year' sneakers sold out in under 10 minutes.
- This is the third successful sneaker collaboration between Caitlin Clark and Nike.
- The Indiana Fever signed two experienced players to support their championship aspirations.
Before Caitlin Clark exploded onto the women’s basketball scene, not many players could confidently say that their merchandise was popular enough to become a household name.
There have been a few instances where some athletes have seen their merchandise become popular, such as Sabrina Ionescu‘s signature sneakers. But on a broader scale, not one athlete could ever think of making a major dent in the male-dominated market.
Ever since the Indiana Fever superstar became a pro, fans have been waiting for her signature shoes to drop. That wait has been going on for two years now, but whenever they get an opportunity at something related to her, they are usually sold out within a short while.
A short while would be an exaggeration, as Nike found out when they listed a limited number of her Kobe 5 Protro x Caitlin Clark ‘Rookie of the Year’ edition on Wednesday, April 15th.
As USA Today’s Trisha Easto remarked, the 10-minute lottery window was gone in the ‘blink of an eye.’ None of the lottery winners were bothered about the $190 price tag, leaving those coming in later to be welcomed by the ‘sold out’ sign.
This is the third PE that Nike commissioned to be designed and released in conjunction with the Iowa native, and so far, every version has been a hit.

With this, the sneaker giant should know by now how fans will respond to her upcoming signature shoe. That may not be a part of a lottery system or have an exclusive window. But judging by the sales of these three editions, Nike can expect their share prices to surge.
Candace Parker can’t wait for Caitlin Clark and Raven Johnson’s first practice
Caitlin Clark’s shoes are not the only topic dominating conversations among fans. Those who follow her and the Indiana Fever have been raging after the franchise drafted South Carolina star Raven Johnson with the 10th pick this year.

The two have history, and fans felt that the bad blood between them might spoil what could become a championship-contending season. Even though some might dismiss this, legend of the game, Candace Parker, does believe the stand-off could spill over into practices.
I can’t wait to hear about that first practice where it’s going to be a little awkward. I know that Caitlin Clark and Raven have probably talked since then. But, there’s got to be a little, you know what I mean.
Candace Parker said on Post Moves
The three-time WNBA champion knows that even if Caitlin Clark and Raven Johnson talk about it, how they feel within will be clear in the first practice sessions.

However, Parker expects the two to hash it out, and knows her podcast co-host and Johnson’s former teammate, Aliyah Boston, who has also squashed her ‘beef’ with Clark, will be there to help them settle their differences.
Caitlin Clark will get two former champions as teammates
The Indiana Fever will be hoping that Caitlin Clark and Raven Johnson hash out their differences soon. That is because they need the two young guards to be in harmony before their season starts.
To allow the younger core to take the next step towards their championship aspirations, the franchise has signed two players who have helped their respective teams to do it in the past.
Earlier, they signed Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Myisha Hines-Allen. Both were part of the rotation that helped the Washington Mystics win the 2019 WNBA championship.

The organization’s hope is that the two can do the same for them. Walker-Kimbrough is a tough guard who can help in both playmaking and scoring off the bench.

MHA is a certified brawler inside the paint. With the Fever roster thin on physicality, the 6’1 forward will be tasked to set the tone whenever she is on the court.
