Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia was a classic brawl between two Mexican fighters, as expected. The younger boxer displayed his intense tenacity inside the ring by throwing his combinations at Alvarez. However, it was not enough since the undisputed middleweight champion emerged victorious via unanimous decision. After the fight, Alvarez was also spotted interacting with David Benavidez, who was ringside.

David Benavidez and Gervonta Davis attended the event since they will share the same fight card on June 15. As such, after the fight, Alvarez spotted him standing ringside. Soon, he boldly pointed at him and asked him to enter the ring. This was a reference to when Alvarez claimed he could fight Benavidez the same night after defeating Munguia.

As such, the undisputed champion wanted to live up to his words and taunted Benavidez because of it. Furthermore, Alvarez made the bold claim mainly because the boxing world has continuously demanded that Saul fight Benavidez several times. This is because the ‘Mexican Monster’ is a worthy contender for his undisputed titles.

Furthermore, Alvarez has recently fought opponents who haven’t posed a challenge to him. The fight between them has not yet materialized for financial reasons because Canelo had demanded $150–200 million for fighting him. Subsequently, fans have accused Alvarez of avoiding Benavidez, but the champion has maintained that he could fight him any day.

While Alvarez managed to emerge victorious, his opponent, Munguia, showed his fighter’s spirit until the end. Across the initial rounds, the young boxer managed to pressure Alvarez into a corner with his combinations. However, the undisputed champion skillfully managed to dismantle Munguia’s attacks every time.

In addition, Munguia’s attack slowed down a lot after he was knocked down for the first time in his professional career. Although he lost, Munguia still managed to earn Canelo’s respect, which was seen at the post-fight press conference. Canelo Alvarez mentioned the courage displayed by his opponent.

We have to respect that he came to win. He came to give everything. I hurt him several times, but he never gave up.
