“Absolute panic”- Chael Sonnen on why Tommy Fury pulled out of his Jake Paul fight

Chael Sonnen is not an admirer of Tommy Fury and he made it very clear back when the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight was scheduled to take place where he hosted a Q/A session with his fans on Twitter.
One fan asked the former UFC middleweight contender about his opinion on the fight between Fury and ‘The Problem Child’ to which he answered, “He is taking on someone with a lineage and history, who does compete in boxing. The problem with Fury is, does he? I mean if you’re boxing somebody that doesn’t box, are you competing in boxing? Or are you following boxing rules but doing something else?“
“And at this point with Will Fury, his opponents have such a bad record, it’s something like a combined record of 11 wins and 150 losses. I might be exaggerating that but I might be exaggerating that smaller. They might have four wins and 180 losses. It’s something brutal. So while Will has done things inside the boxing ring under boxing rules, Will is not a boxer.”
Chael Sonnen just today uploaded a video where he spoke about Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley 2 and the PPV sales they made and how it underperformed and even spoke about the reason why Tommy Fury pulled out of the fight.
“You had Will [Tommy] Fury pulled out of the fight. That had nothing to do with anything other than an absolute panic which you knew that he had. That’s okay. I’m not teasing Will [Tommy] Fury by the way. I’m sharing with you that it’s very real, there’s a lot on the line.”
He continues to get Tommy’s Fury name wrong calling him ‘Will’ at all times.
Chael Sonnen fires at Tommy Fury for needing his hand to be held
While the fight was still on, Tommy Fury and Jake Paul had a pre-fight press conference where they badmouthed and trashed each other. Well, Tommy Fury didn’t really trash talk with his dad John Fury making headlines when he said that his son would f*** Paul’s girlfriend like a dog.
Sonnen said on his YouTube channel that he believes that Tommy Fury couldn’t handle the magnitude of the fight.
“The lights were too bright from the jump, it was obvious the lights were too bright when he didn’t sign the contract in the first place. At the press conference where Jake Paul is not even present and he didn’t do it by himself, he brought help. I’ve never in my life seen such a thing. When he needed his hand held on stage to hold a god damn microphone, the gig is up. This isn’t for you.”
Fury did admit that he was ‘heartbroken’ to have had to back out and hopes he could reschedule it to when he’s fully recovered but Jake Paul says that he would make him wait years for his next shot.
