Chelsea Transfer News: Mendy Deal Done

Chelsea have completed the signing of Edouard Mendy from Rennes on a five-year deal at a cost of £22 million. This move has been a long time coming to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga who has just been terrible in the goal.

Edouard Mendy:

Mendy has followed into the footsteps of Chelsea legend Petr Cech, who is now part of the technical team. “As soon as Petr Cech and our technical team identified Edouard as the most suitable goalkeeper to complement our existing group, there was only one player we wanted to bring in,” Blues director Granovskaia added. 

“Edouard arrives following a season of real success with Rennes, he is ambitious for more, and we welcome him to our club.” He also stated. Mendy had been excellent for Rennes last season and will be hoping he would be the first choice keeper. Chelsea confirmed his signing yesterday.

Lampard will be hoping this deal would make the world’s record signing for a goalkeeper, perform well again, and truly become No. 1. Rumours are coming in from Chelsea that Kepa might be on his way out of London on a loan for the season with Mendy taking over. This could help Kepa and be the change he needs.
