Cheteshwar Pujara teased a return to his former IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He posted a cryptic tweet on his X account, stating he was excited to join “Supper Kings” in the ongoing season.
Cheteshwar Pujara is well known as an Indian Test cricket great. Batting at number three since 2012, he held that position for three years before being dropped in 2023. He didn’t have much of an impact in any white-ball format, but does have experience in the IPL.
Pujara was purchased by CSK in 2021, but did not feature in a single match. He last played in IPL back in 2014, when he played for Kings XI Punjab. Before that, he used to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), playing a total of just 23 matches.
Fans left wondering if Cheteshwar Pujara is actually returning to CSK
When many CSK fans saw the tweet, they were left puzzled. Many wondered if he was actually joining CSK, while some were not convinced, especially with the way he spelt the word “Supper”. Most of them just joked around, with many taking digs at MS Dhoni as well.
Check out their reactions:
Although he tweeted out that he could join the “Supper Kings”, the chances of Pujara joining CSK currently are close to none. The batter is in England, playing in the County Championship for Sussex. He is also the captain of the side and has scored 38 runs in the season opener.
CSK are 3rd in the IPL table as of now, two points behind 2nd place Kolkata Knight Riders. They have won four out of their six matches.
