Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko announced that Daniel Ricciardo’s future with the team would be decided after the Singapore GP. The Australian faced rumors of being replaced by Liam Lawson following a series of underwhelming performances this season, managing to score just 12 points up until the Singapore GP. However, team principal Christian Horner has not ruled him out of F1 yet, keeping his future in the sport open.
Christian Horner explained that a month-long break between the races gives the team a good opportunity for Red Bull to review their options. He mentioned that this break would allow them to carefully evaluate all possible scenarios and make decisions for the future. The gap between races gives Red Bull enough time to consider what’s best for the team. This included evaluating Daniel Ricciardo’s situation and deciding who to include in his seat as a potential replacement.
There is a natural break now, with almost a month between the races, of course you, evaluate all of your scenarios.Christian Horner stated
Horner recognized Ricciardo’s achievements in F1 and his impressive skills. Ricciardo showcased his talent during the final lap, helping his former teammate Max Verstappen by taking a point away from Lando Norris. His fastest lap was crucial for Red Bull, as it prevented the brit from scoring an extra point.
Daniel, we know his capabilities, we know exactly what he has done, he showed again with that final lap that he did there, which was valuable to us, because it takes a point off Lando.Christian Horner added
Christian Horner claims Daniel Ricciardo’s future will be decided in the upcoming long break
Christian Horner stated that during the upcoming month-long break, the team will reflect on everything that happened in Singapore. This includes the decision about Ricciardo’s uncertain future. Red Bull has chosen to delay this issue, as they want to focus on more pressing matters.
Red Bull initially planned to announce his future after Singapore, but Horner emphasized the need to analyze his performance first. By carefully evaluating their options, Red Bull aims to make informed decisions that will benefit both the team and its drivers.
Let's see over this period, this month. We will reflect on things and then decide how we proceed.Christian Horner stated
While Norris finished 20 seconds ahead of Verstappen and Red Bull, it was still a good race for the Dutchman compared to his last few performances. Incidentally, Verstappen also thanked Ricciardo for recording the fastest lap and denying Norris an additional point.
