As WWE moves past WrestleMania and segues into a relatively pedestrian period as usual, some of its top stars are looking forward to what could be next in store for them. Take, for instance, CM Punk, who just main evented the company’s biggest show of the year, has listed down his superstar preferences with whom he wants to mix it up.

Speaking to Tudum by Netflix, The Straight Edge Superstar named Jacob Fatu right off the bat. Punk noted that they did crank it up inside the WarGames match last year, but the ex-AEW star wants to run it back in a singles setting. The Chicago-born wrestler mentioned Finn Balor, saying he’s fantastic. Another man, or veteran for that matter, whose prospect intrigues Punk is Rey Mysterio.

The Best in the World said he selfishly wants to wrestle Mysterio and teach him a lesson for raising such a brat in Dominik Mysterio. Punk’s scorn for the 28-year-old knows no bounds. Not that long ago, the former six-time WWE Champion brutally trolled the Judgment Day member while wishing his sister, Aalyah Gutierrez, a happy birthday. Nonetheless, all these feuds that Punk’s envisioning aren’t hard to come by.

Being in the position he’s in at this stage of his career, The Second City Saint could leverage a semblance of creative control in WWE. An interview that Triple H, the company’s Chief Content Officer, did prior to WrestleMania was reflective of the mutual understanding between the two, as The Game detailed how they resolved the deadlock between Punk and other WWE writers on a couple of occasions.

CM Punk comments on wanting to be a part of John Cena’s retirement tour

In one of the excerpts from the aforementioned interview, CM Punk talked about John Cena. They’re both close to hanging up their wrestling boots for good, with Cena already vowing to do so by the end of 2025. Punk said that it felt like his duty to give the Peacemaker actor his due credit, as the latter was never going to do it himself.

The Chicagoan, having had a storied history with the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, added that he’d love to be a part of Cena’s ongoing farewell tour. Punk isn’t bothered about the specifics. If it calls for a tag team match, fine; or if the Last Real Champion wants to have a piece of the Voice of the Voiceless, then so be it. They went toe-to-toe in this year’s Elimination Chamber match.

Being the final two, Punk and Cena turned the clock a decade or more back with the chemistry they showcased. With still over half a year left in The Franchise Player’s obliged dates with WWE, the fans can certainly expect these icons to have a one-on-one encounter before it’s all said and done.

What has CM Punk done since Paul Heyman’s betrayal at WrestleMania?

CM Punk‘s WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas was a rollercoaster of a ride. Being the last entry of night 1 meant everything for him. However, he also got betrayed by Paul Heyman, who used to label the 46-year-old as his best friend. Due to Heyman’s later-justified course of action, Punk didn’t step out of the spotlight victorious. But he was not pinned in the process as well.

In fact, it was Roman Reigns who bite the dust at the hands of Seth Rollins. The Architect was joined by The Wiseman in a shocking move. Reigns and Punk tried avenging their betrayals on Raw after WrestleMania, but were annihilated by Heyman and Rollins’ new recruit, Bron Breakker.

This past Monday on Raw, The Best in the World cost The Visionary the world title match against Jey Uso. Punk acted like a one-man wrecking crew, saving Sami Zayn and The Yeet Master from further damage. It’d be interesting to see how everything unfolds from here.
