On Friday morning, the wrestling fraternity got a wonderful surprise in the form of Cody Rhodes and his wife, Brandi Rhodes, becoming parents for the second time. Taking to X, Brandi posted a picture in which she could be seen holding the baby girl, named Leilani Ella Runnels, in her arms. The Runnels household is now a family of four.

The newborn, whom Brandi also referred to as Lani, is the second daughter of the former AEW EVPs after Liberty Iris Runnels, or simply Libby. Papa Rhodes quoted a reply on his wife’s post and said, “Three taps on the ground My Leilani,” followed by a pink-hearted emoji.

The husband-wife duo kept this thing extremely close to their vests. It’s likely a case of surrogacy, as Brandi wasn’t pregnant in her recent on-camera appearances. That doesn’t make a difference, as the parents are in love with the baby, and their hearts are overflowing with emotions.

Speaking of Rhodes’ current whereabouts, he’s been absent from WWE television. But there’s a good reason for that. ‘The American Nightmare’ was spotted in Sydney, Australia, earlier this week to begin filming for the live-action Street Fighter movie. He’s expected to be done with it by 9/20, which is the date of WWE’s upcoming PLE WrestlePalooza.

The reigning WWE Champion’s on-screen nemesis, Roman Reigns, is also due to start filming for his role in Street Fighter soon. The expected timeline of the OTC’s stay on the movie set is between 9/5 and the week of 9/26. As per Dave Meltzer of WON, the dates of both Rhodes and Reigns do coincide, and there’s some crossover featuring the WWE rivals, but not a lot either.

Drew McIntyre instigated Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes on SmackDown

It’s been three weeks since Cody Rhodes was written off WWE programming after he succumbed to a vicious assault by Drew McIntyre. The latter has since been verbally disparaging the former AEW star. Last week, the Scot really went at Rhodes in a heated fashion. He then urged the so-called golden boy of WWE to spend as much time as he can with the title belt because he wouldn’t be able to hold on to it for long.

The Ayr-born wrestler also boasted about brutally attacking the champ and how nobody backstage questioned him for that. McIntyre asserted that Rhodes doesn’t have any friends left in WWE, and that’s why him getting ambushed didn’t elicit a condemnation spree in the locker room. Before he could talk more trash, Randy Orton, out of nowhere, dropped the Scot with an RKO.

Last night on SmackDown, the former 3MB member addressed The Viper’s sneak attack. He tried to affirm that Rhodes wasn’t his friend but rather a manipulator and politician instead. ‘The Chosen One’ told Orton that Rhodes regularly checking on him while the 14-time world champion was recovering from a career-threatening back injury wasn’t a gesture of true friendship at all.

In fact, as per McIntyre, ‘The QB1’ did so to squeeze every ounce of information he could out of Orton’s physical limitations so that he could use it against ‘The Apex Predator’ in the future. To support his cause with a recent example, McIntyre underscored how Rhodes didn’t hesitate in targeting Orton’s vulnerable back during their Night of Champions bout for the King of the Ring crown.

On the other hand, ‘The Legend Killer’ couldn’t pull the trigger on using the devastating Punt kick on ‘The American Nightmare’. McIntyre called Orton naive and an idiot if he still considered Rhodes to be friends with him. The 45-year-old responded by saying he didn’t RKO McIntyre for Rhodes but because the Scot was a prick.

After that, the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ nailed a Glasgow Kiss headbutt on Orton before setting him up for a Claymore kick. ‘The Viper’ got out of harm’s way in time and hit the Scot with his vintage rope-hung DDT before WWE officials barged in to stop him. Orton RKOed everyone, including Shane Helms, the erstwhile Hurricane. ‘The Apex Predator’ was about to Punt kick McIntyre, but the latter rolled out in time.
