Cody Rhodes has touched on an incident that he still feels bad for today. His incognizance cost a current Raw star his big moment.

In his conversation with R-Truth on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Cody Rhodes took a stroll down memory lane. He recalled an unfortunate incident from 2017, wherein he was competing on an indie show in Ireland, named OTT. On the same night, his fellow WWE Superstar JD McDonagh was lined up for a massive title match. However, Rhodes ended up ruining the day for The Irish Ace.
First up, Cody was in a triple threat match. However, presuming that there were no time constraints, which generally holds true on independent circuits, he spent about 20 minutes goofing around in the crowd. He was basically frolicking. Rhodes even had the referee asking him to wrap it up soon. Anyways, he didn’t pay much heed.
Cody Rhodes was apparently incognizant of the preferred exit time of the attendees. The local transit train was last available till 10:30 pm. And by the time JD McDonagh‘s title match began, around 75% of the crowd had already left the place. As a result, JD, albeit he was victorious, it would’ve been such a let-down for him morally.
JD McDonagh, that was his big title match for the OTT [No Limits] Championship that night. And because I had gone to the lengths I'd gone, the public [transportation] leaves at 10:30. There was only about a quarter of them left. So they missed his big moment … But yeah, I feel bad to this day.Cody Rhodes on ruining JD McDonagh’s moment
Ruing his oblivious nature, The American Nightmare said he feels bad for the Judgment Day member to this day. The WWE Universe has already witnessed these men beefing around as The Judgment Day did make life difficult for Rhodes last year. Hopefully, they don’t hold personal grudges against each other.
Moving on to the business end, tonight’s SummerSlam. In the main event, the Undisputed WWE title will be on the line in a Bloodline Rules match as Solo Sikoa looks to dethrone Cody. The stipulation did wonders for Rhodes at WrestleMania XL. However, he’s in a much dire state this time around.
Cody Rhodes calls out The Rock ahead of SummerSlam
As he prepares to combat Solo Sikoa, which wouldn’t be easy at all, Cody Rhodes knows he has a certain Final Boss to take care of as well. Recently, The Prodigal Son caught up with ESPN. He reminisced about how he beat thereal Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania 40.
And now, he’d like to put away a pretender in Sikoa. Before he was done, the 39-year-old even touched on The Rock. The former AEW EVP warned the Hollywood actor that if he were to ascend the Tribal Chief throne next, he’d take him down too.
As it’s already there in the market, there are rumors that Rock and Cody will collide in some capacity at next year’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas. Mind you, The Great One pinned Rhodes on night 1 of The Showcase of The Immortals in Philadelphia this year.
