After ending Roman Reigns‘ historic reign at WrestleMania XL, Cody Rhodes wanted to meet him backstage. However, according to him, The Tribal Chief was nowhere to be found following their match. The American Nightmare shed some light on the incident in an interview.
While speaking on the Sports Illustrated podcast, Cody Rhodes was asked whether he had a backstage moment with Roman Reigns. The 38-year-old said that they were so involved and invested during their match at WrestleMania XL that they didn’t need to have a ‘moment’. Despite that, he expressed his desire to share a moment with him in the future when they meet again.
Right after he lost the title, The Tribal Chief was captured on camera sharing an emotional moment with Paul Heyman. He later sent a message on social media, saying he would start his journey again from the beginning. Recently, Reigns was seen shooting for a project with popular American rapper Keke Palmer. Without a doubt, wrestling fans are eagerly waiting for him to make his return to WWE.
Meanwhile, Rhodes has started to look beyond Reigns and has shifted his focus to new challengers. He will defend his title for the first time at a PLE against AJ Styles. The latter defeated LA Knight to earn the spot on the latest edition of SmackDown. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top when two Georgia boys collide at Backlash in Lyon, France.
Cody Rhodes said the day after WrestleMania XL was the best day of his life
During WrestleMania week, The American Nightmare had to attend many press conferences and events. The Grandson of a Plumber was even present at the Make-A-Wish Foundation program with John Cena. As such, Rhodes commented on how exhausted he was after the hectic week was finally over.
In the aforementioned interview, Rhodes was asked how tired he was during the episode of Monday Night Raw after the Show of Shows. In reply, he told a story about his daughter, Liberty, and recalled taking her to Disneyland after his victory. Rhodes stated that although he was very tired, it was the best day of his life, as he got to spend some quality time with his family.
But one of the most exciting things for me was Liberty; we had told her to go to Philadelphia. We couldn't really get her too excited about Philadelphia, but we also told her we're going to take her to Disney World if I won. The next day, as tired as I could be, was the best day of my life.Cody Rhodes via Sports Illustrated podcast
The 38-year-old star didn’t forget to talk about the contributions of his wife, Brandi Rhodes. The Undisputed WWE Champion claimed that he was incredibly proud that she got to be a part of WrestleMania as well. Rhodes further added how Brandi helped him at every step of the way and was, therefore, so happy for her.
