Conor McGregor remains one of the biggest names in combat sports, yet his long-awaited UFC return remains uncertain. Instead of stepping back into the Octagon, the Irish superstar is focused on other ventures, including politics. After more than three years away, McGregor is finally ready to fight again – this time, it is not in the cage, but in the elections.
McGregor recently visited the White House to meet newly elected President Donald Trump, sharing wholesome moments and displaying mutual respect together. During his visit, the Irish fighter publicly talked about his concerns regarding the Irish government and its policies. Following their meeting, the Irish superstar made headlines by announcing his decision to enter Ireland’s presidential race this year.
The next presidential election must take place by 11 Nov 2025. Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill? Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will! I would love to hear the debates! Followed then by vote! This is the future of Ireland with me as President.

McGregor has openly criticized the Irish government, blaming them for the country’s decline and mismanagement in recent years. He has strongly opposed illegal immigration, arguing that the government prioritizes non-citizens over native Irish people, worsening societal issues. Additionally, McGregor highlighted Dublin’s rising crime rates in the past decade, emphasizing the urgent need for reform.

So between now and 12 June 2026, several pieces of legislation have to be passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas & then signed by the President.

As expected, these comments have put Ireland’s administration in a negative light, prompting them to respond and address the situation publicly. The Irish police, known as Gardai, recently responded to McGregor’s accusations, issuing a statement to counter the claims. However, McGregor soon responded highlighting the hypocrisy of the government where a person was stabbed in the city.
Conor McGregor’s visit to the White House was sinister?
Conor McGregor has always been a huge supporter of Donald Trump and was also invited to the inauguration ceremony. ‘The Notorious’ has huge respect for the US, and its new administration and wants Ireland to maintain a good relationship. In his latest visit, he claimed that the US, as the big brother, should look after its little brother, that is Ireland.

However, the Irish government representatives were not happy with the situation and made it clear that the ‘Notorious’ doesn’t speak for Ireland. On the contrary, they praised Nikita Hand, who recently won the se*ual assault civil lawsuit against McGregor. Rachel Morrogh, the chief executive of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre recently talked about McGregor and shared a unique perspective.
We do believe that the meeting between Trump and Conor McGregor was really very sinister and we have called it out for what it is, which is … an attempt to rebuild the very damaged reputation of Conor McGregor. I think what has really shocked us is that the office of the president of the United States, which is so respected and so revered, is being used to launder Conor McGregor’s reputation.

In December 2018, hairdresser Nikita Hand accused MMA fighter Conor McGregor of ra*ing her in a Dublin hotel. McGregor denied the allegations, claiming the encounter was consensual. In November 2024, after a civil trial, a jury found McGregor liable for se*ual assault, awarding Hand $250K in damages. Hand expressed relief at the verdict, encouraging other victims to speak up for justice.
Any potential Presidential run will put his MMA career on hold. Dana White was looking forward to hosting that mega comeback fight for the ‘Mystic Mac’ since 2023 began. However, with the recent situation, things have become complicated. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what other plans that the ‘Notorious’ has in the future.
