Conor McGregor is doing everything except stepping inside the UFC octagon for his much-anticipated comeback. Despite inactivity for more than three years, the ‘Notorious’ is still popular among the masses and makes headlines on the internet. Recently, the former UFC champion has shown his aspirations to pursue his political career, which has intrigued everyone. 

McGregor has lately been strongly opinionated on Irish politics, particularly criticizing the government’s allocation of funds and its immigration policies. The UFC fighter takes pride in his Irish roots and has also talked about becoming the President and saving Ireland. In a recent tweet, the Irishman talked about all this and shared information about meeting US President Donald Trump.

In addition to financial concerns, the ‘Notorious’ has publicly talked about the need for judicial reform in Ireland. ‘Mystic Mac’ has argued that the current system is too lenient towards imported criminals, compromising the safety of Irish citizens. It seems McGregor’s upcoming meeting with Trump is very important as he had updated his followers on X.

McGregor recently tweeted about arriving in Washington, DC, for what he calls the most important meeting in Ireland’s future. He has expressed extreme confidence in his growing relationship with Donald Trump, as both have openly praised each other on social media. A few months ago, McGregor attended Trump’s inauguration ceremony, where his interactions captured widespread attention from fight fans.

Conor McGregor has had a rocky relationship with Donald Trump before the elections. After Trump named the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite fighter, the Irishman was expectedly angry. However, after the elections, both seem to have buried the hatchet and McGregor enjoyed his time at the inauguration ceremony.

Apart from McGregor, Trump had invited several other celebrities and social media influencers. One of them was the Popular YouTuber, Theo Von, who met McGregor for the first time at the ceremony. Following that, he went viral for his unique way of explaining the former UFC double champion.

McGregor also met his internet rivals, Logan and Jake Paul during the bus ride to the ceremony. Initially, he was observed chilling with the Paul brothers, but the situation got worse with time. Several videos of them having arguments have gone viral on the internet. However, this time, his visit to Washington seems more serious. 

Can Conor McGregor become the next President of Ireland?

After his debut in the UFC, Conor McGregor represented the Irish flag with pride and respect. Many Irish people resonated with his achievements as well as his cocky personality and made him a superstar. However, with time his popularity in Ireland has declined. This is mainly due to legal issues, controversial statements, and diminished activity in professional careers.

His 2024 civil lawsuit for se*ual assault led to major backlash, causing brands to distance themselves from his products like Proper No. Twelve. McGregor’s anti-immigration remarks after Dublin riots sparked outrage, leading to a criminal probe for alleged incitement to hatred.

Young Irish people who once looked up to him are now publicly mocking him for his antics. Since suffering a leg injury in 2021, his lack of competitive fights has disappointed loyal fans who admire his fighting skills. Given this situation, becoming the President is definitely a far-fetched dream.
