Conor McGregor remains the most popular MMA fighter in the world despite being absent from the octagon for over three years. The fighter frequently makes headlines and has all the attention for himself, sometimes even the negative attention too. While many fans still believe in his return, UFC legend Chael Sonnen has expressed doubts about McGregor ever fighting again.

McGregor has accomplished everything in combat sports, earning millions while shifting his focus to business ventures instead of fight purses. Sonnen recently discussed this on his podcast, emphasizing that McGregor’s priorities have changed significantly over the years. He suggested that McGregor wouldn’t be able to compete at the highest level anymore due to his long absence.

We can go 55, we can go 70, we can make up a weight class. There is not an athlete under contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championships located in Southern Nevada that he can beat. When they bring him back, they put him in a main event. You put a guy in a main event, all of a sudden you’re asking him to do five rounds. We got a guy that can’t breathe for a full round. This is just a reality…. there is no reason to comeback, there’s a a**-whipping waiting for you.

McGregor no longer possesses the same lethality that once made him the most feared striker in MMA. His speed, timing, and precision have diminished due to inactivity, injuries, and a shift in priorities. Once known for his devastating left hand and elite counterstriking, he now struggles against top contenders. His lavish lifestyle, business ventures, and lack of training have dulled his competitive edge.

While still dangerous, McGregor lacks the sharpness and hunger that once made him virtually unstoppable inside the octagon. Despite all that, McGregor still has the biggest name, and top UFC fighters are desperate to go against him. The fight promises them a hefty fight purse, and also, McGregor seems to be up for the challenge.

Conor McGregor’s dream to make the greatest comeback

Conor McGregor has recently shown a growing interest in politics, making high-profile appearances and engaging in public discourse on social issues. His visit to the White House further fueled speculation about his future ambitions beyond fighting. Following this, McGregor shocked fans by announcing his retirement from the UFC, signaling a shift in priorities.

With his newfound aspirations to become the President, he announced that he is ready to leave the fight game behind. He also mentioned that he’s happy with everything he achieved in his UFC career. However, in the same interviews, the fighter made a U-turn, which left fans in shock.

I hold every pay-per-view record in the book. I hold every gate record in the book. And my comeback will be slated as the greatest comeback or the biggest, most-anticipated comeback of all time. right now Ireland is in my thoughts and that’s where I’m at. It will happen, I’m sure and it’s always great to be here and there you go.

Apart from UFC, McGregor has a variety of other options to make his comeback. This could involve a boxing rematch with Floyd Mayweather or even a high-profile Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship match. He may also consider exhibition bouts or celebrity fights, capitalizing on his massive popularity and business ventures outside the UFC. However, his die-hard fans are more interested in him entering the UFC Octagon one last time.

How money changed Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor’s wealth transformed his lifestyle, elevating him from a hungry fighter to a global superstar living extravagantly with luxury cars. His passion for fighting sometimes seemed overshadowed by business ventures, whiskey promotions, and social media antics, reducing his aura.

He made a whopping $100 million from fighting Floyd Mayweather, which was believed to be game-changing for the fighter. UFC CEO Dana White has often mentioned that money changed McGregor, which affected his career. While still a polarizing figure, his motivation shifted from proving himself to maintaining fame, occasionally hinting at comebacks but lacking past discipline.
