‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor tops the Forbes list of highest-paid athletes of 2021

The year 2020 has been difficult for all the sports and sporting fans around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the sports stayed suspended for many months due to this global pandemic and when sporting action started it went on without fans behind closed curtains for a very long period of time.
Still, some of the global sporting personalities make most of this by endorsing various brands and increasing their net worth. Forbes recently released the list of highest-paid athletes of 2021 and the global MMA icon ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor topped the list this year with a whopping net worth of $180 mil.
Most of Conor’s income came through by selling his majority stakes in the Irish whiskey brand Proper Twelve to Proximo Spirits for $150 million. This is the first time the face of UFC, Conor McGregor topped the Forbes list for the highest-paid athlete.
Before this, he landed at number 4 in the top ten with $99 Million in 2018 after his fight against the boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. Here is the list of the top 10 highest-paid athletes of 2021 according to Forbes.

Conor McGregor said before he is going to be at top position this year
‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor already predicted that he is going to be at the top rank of the highest-paid athletes of this year. During his recent question-answer session at Twitter under his #asknotorious. One of the MMA pages named MMA Mania asked Conor “what position are you gonna be in the next Forbes Highest-Paid Athletes list”?
To which Conor McGregor replied “Number 1 of course” and now it looks like he walked his talk. It is interesting to see Conor only fought once in 2020 against Donald Cerrone. That shows most of his income comes from outside sources. Still, this truth is undeniable that ‘The Notorious’ is the true face of UFC.
