Coutinho has been through a lot in the last two years of his career. Initially, he arrived with much fanfare in 2018 for a club record 160 million euros to replace club legend Midfielder Iniesta. However, his dream of being a legend at Barca came crashing down to earth as he struggled to get to grips with the team.
As a result, he was sent on a loan to Bayern Munich where he showed glimpses of his quality and helped them win the Champions League. Moreover, he also managed to get a sweet revenge on Barca as he hit two goals on the way to a 8-2 win for Bayern.
Coutinho returns to Barcelona:
Philippe Coutinho is back to his swashbuckling best at Barcelona this season after returning from Bayern. The coach, Ronald koeman has made him the main attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation which has allowed Coutinho to showcase his magic. Also, with Messi to his right, Fati to his left and Griezmann up top the team looks to be clicking in attack.
“I am motivated to work hard and do things well, to achieve important things for this club. That is what counts.” Coutinho said when asked about his new found form after he scored the goal in the 1-1 draw with Sevilla.
Furthermore, Coutinho performed admirably for Brazil in their world cup qualifying wins during the international break. Likewise, Barca will be hoping he can continue his good form as they face a tough run of fixtures in the upcoming weeks. In addition, Coutinho will also be looking to win over the Barca fans after they had whistled and criticized him last year.
