ENG vs IND: “You can see by Virat Kohli’s enthusiasm, intensity that Test cricket means everything to him” – Kevin Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen and Virat Kohli
India skipper Virat Kohli never shies away from expressing his love and passion for Test matches even in this modern-day cricket. The purest form of the game is far ahead of any other format for the batting maestro.
Coming to the recently-concluded second Test match between India and England, Kohli’s on-field aggression and intensity was second to none. He kept backing his bowlers while regularly chirping something in front of the English batsmen. Hence, the Indian team registered an iconic victory at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London to gain a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Meanwhile, the former England batsman Kevin Pietersen shared his thoughts on Kohli’s passion for Test cricket. The cricketer-turned-commentator highlighted that the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are amongst the heroes of Kohli and he’s putting a lot of effort to follow the same path.
“Virat Kohli is fantastic for Test cricket. Knowing Virat Kohli the way that I do, I know the huge impetus he puts on following in the footsteps of his heroes. His heroes are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and other legends of Test match cricket,” said Pietersen in his blog for Betway.
“How good is it to see a global superstar so passionate about Test cricket”
The former English cricketer stated that Virat Kohli knows the importance of Test matches. Pietersen further went on to say that:
“You can see by his enthusiasm, intensity, and the way he rallies his troops. Test cricket still means everything to him. Kohli knows that to be considered a legend of the game, he needs to deliver in this format as well as in T20. That’s why he puts so much importance on this format and at a time when Test cricket needs all the love it can get, how good is it to see a global superstar so passionate about it.”
Virat Kohli might not be going through his dream run with the bat for the last couple of years. However, his intensity while fielding and leading the side from the front just steals the show.
