Royal Challengers Bangalore are on a roll in the ongoing IPL 2022 match at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai against Kolkata Knight Riders. Wanindu Hasaranga and Akash Deep made the ball talk as KKR lost wicket after wicket. Notably, the Knight Riders entered this match as favourites, having defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the first match.

Furthermore, RCB lost their first game against Punjab Kings despite scoring a massive 205/2 while batting first. While the RCB bowlers struggled in that game, they didn’t put a foot wrong this time. Faf du Plessis, the skipper, was also brilliant with his field placements and bowler rotation. However, he also made a bad call during the competition, leaving the fans puzzled

His error cost RCB a DRS call as well. Harshal Patel was bowling the final ball of the 16th over to number-11 batter Varun Chakaravarthy. Chakaravarthy faced a full-length delivery from Patel with a straight bat. Harshal was convinced that the ball had struck the boots, as evidenced by his vehement appeal.

Du Plessis took the DRS, entrusting the right-arm pacer, and what followed was embarrassment on the big screen. The replay clearly showed that Chakaravarthy had hit the ball, and Twitter quickly became engulfed in a meme frenzy. Notably, KKR were nine down at the time of this incident, and Faf saw an opportunity to end the innings.

His call, however, was poor, and fans couldn’t believe the former South African captain could make such a blunder. Meanwhile, Chakaravarthy and Umesh Yadav added 27 runs for the final wicket as the two-time champions batted first and posted 128. Interestingly, eight of KKR’s 11 batters reached double digits, but none were able to play a meaningful inning. Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan leg spinner, was the pick of the RCB bowlers, taking four wickets.
