Mumbai Indians released a big player in the form of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Because the MI franchise didn’t retain him, Gujarat Titans bought him for a whopping Rs. 15 crores in the recent mega auction in Bengaluru and made him the skipper. Recently after the MI franchise released him, he penned down an emotional note and unfollowed the five-time champion MI on social media. And it’s well known that MI played a huge role in shaping his cricketing career.

Over the past few years, the 28-year-old Pandya has struggled with a back injury. This has quite affected his performance on the field and hindered his all-rounder skills. Because of his less contribution, he has been out of the Indian cricket team, and his position has been filled by Venkatesh Iyer. He was more focused on batting and fielding and hasn’t bowled for team India for a long time.

On March 13, while Pandya was interacting with the media in the jersey unveil, a journalist asked him about his chances of bowling in the upcoming IPL. Pandya remained tight-lipped about his bowling action and came up with a quirky reply, instead of answering his question. He said in Hindi: “Sir, it’s a surprise. Let it be a surprise.“ The fans were not happy about Pandya’s attitude.

The new entrant in the form of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will lock-horns in both of their first matches on March 28th in the IPL 2022. The opening match will be played between the defending champion CSK and KKR on March 26.
