Imran Tahir heaps high praise on Ab De Villiers
AB de Villiers
South African leggie Imran Tahir has claimed that taking the wicket of his former national teammate AB de Villiers is a special feeling. Believing that De Villiers is the best player in the world, he also claims that getting the former out is a big thing.
Ab De Villiers is unarguably the most versatile player to have played the sport. He is a cricketer with an abundance of talent and has the temperament to back it up. Also known as Mr.360, he has left his mark all over the world and across all formats. He is one of the few batters to have an average of over 50 in both ODIs and Test cricket. Despite announcing a shocking retirement in 2018, he is still seen in the domestic T20 leagues and has dominated there as well.
In a conversation with Youtube show Cricast, Imran Tahir has heaped high praise for Ab De Villiers. The leg spinner claimed De Villiers as his most special wicket and also termed him as the best player.
“This is a very difficult question because I have played against some very good players. But, it is always special to get AB de Villiers out. According to me, he is the best player in the world and I have dismissed him during difficult situations in the IPL. So, it is always nice to get him out, because it is very tough to dismiss him. There are many other big names, but getting AB out is a big thing,” said Tahir.
Imran Tahir names AB de Villiers among the toughest batsmen to bowl to
Tahir is one of the best leg spinners in the world when it comes to white-ball cricket. The leggie has represented South Africa in 165 matches across all formats and has taken 293 wickets in the process. The 42-year-old, who has played against several stars of the game names a few of the toughest batters to bowl to.
“There are a lot of players whom I have watched very closely and also bowled to them. There is Virat Kohli, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith. I have mostly played white-ball cricket and not so many Test matches, but I can say that if you don’t get it right against these batsmen, things would become very difficult for you as a bowler,” added Tahir.
Imran Tahir is currently with the Multan Sultans Squad for the PSL 2021 which is set to resume from 9th June in Abu Dhabi.
