“Kane Williamson is like a rock for the New Zealand team” – Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar and Kane Williamson
Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has leapt massive praises for New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson after his side beat Virat Kohli’s men in the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The Blackcaps registered a one-sided eight-wicket win over the ‘Men in Blue’ on Sunday.
The India batting legend praised Kane Williamson for controlling the game well in a crucial game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Tendulkar also commented on India’s yet another poor performance in the ongoing ICC tournament.
“All in all, I felt India was playing a catching game because of how New Zealand dominated the game. It was a tough time for Indian batters which forced them to play the big shot. Then Daryl Mitchell and Williamson stitched an important stand. Williamson is like a rock for the New Zealand team if he is on a wicket he controls the game well. Mitchell played some decent shots and rotated the strikes,” Tendulkar said in his Facebook video.
“Bowling changes of Williamson were top-notch” – Tendulkar
India’s loss against the Kiwis marked their second consecutive defeat at the T20 WC. In the later part of the video, the Master Blaster also shed light on what went wrong for the ‘Asian Giants’ in the last match. He mentioned that Kohli and co. were not able to fetch runs during the middle overs which forced the batters to play big shots.
“From ball one, the bowling changes of Williamson were top-notch. The planning was good and in the first six overs we were 35/2 and from those 35 runs, the 20 came in five overs. After six overs till 10th over we only scored 13 runs, so according to me that was a critical point where we missed out on capitalizing. Those easy singles were not available and that forced our batters to play the big shot,” Tendulkar added.
