The 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) is being played at the Brabon Stadium in Mumbai. In the match between Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings, Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to field first. After losing the toss, the Punjab team came to the first field to bat. Punjab captain and opener Mayank Agarwal and wicketkeeper-batsman Johnny Bairstow were dismissed cheaply. But Liam Livingstone was instrumental in leading the team to a big score by playing a very aggressive innings. Punjab lost 9 wickets and scored 189 runs.
Punjab had a poor start. Punjab relies heavily on Mayank Agarwal (5) and Johnny Bairstow (8). Punjab’s pace was slow in the opening over as both of them quickly lost their wickets. However, Liam Livingstone later started batting as if they had accepted the responsibility of the team on their shoulders. Liam Livingstone hit four fours and sixes on the field with an aggressive game. Liam Livingstone hit a quick half-century and played a 64-run innings for which he faced 27 balls. He hit 4 sixes and 7 fours during his innings.
The Punjab team, however, continued to lose wickets from time to time. Debutant Darshan Nalakande’s over was also proving difficult. Although Liam played an important game, he was also supported by Shikhar Dhawan and Jitesh Sharma. Shikhar Dhawan played an innings of 35 off 30 balls. Jitesh scored 23 off 11 balls. Jitesh hit 2 sixes. Odin Smith failed today, he lost the wicket at zero. That was the golden duck out. Shah Rukh Khan returned to the pavilion with 15 off 8 balls and Kagiso Rabada with 1. Rahul Chahar (22) and Arshdeep Singh (10) for the final wicket were also brilliant. The duo combined for 27 off 13 balls. At the same time, the Punjab team was saved from being all out. Vaibhav Arora scored 2 runs.
Great performance by Rashid Khan and Darshan Nalkande
Rashid Khan was 3 wickets faster today. He gave 22 runs in 4 overs and these important wickets were fast. Rashid grabbed the important wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Living Stone in an attempt to control the rising score against the team. Darshan Nalkande gave a golden duck out to Odin Smith. He was 2 wickets faster in his debut match. For this, however, he lost 37 runs in 3 overs. Shami, Hardik Pandya and Loki Ferguson took 1-1 wickets.
