Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai today. CSK’s team has lost its last two matches. At the same time, Punjab Kings have played two matches so far. In one of these the team won and lost in one. Chennai captain Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and decided to bowl first.

In this match, Chennai Super Kings has made a change in their playing XI. He has included Chris Jordan in place of Tushar Deshpande. Punjab Kings has come on the field with two changes. Punjab Kings set a target of 181 runs in front of Chennai Super Kings. The team scored 180 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Batting first after losing the toss, Punjab got off to a bad start. Punjab had lost two wickets for 14 runs. Young bowler Mukesh Chaudhary gave a blow in the very first over. He got Mayank (4) caught by Uthappa.

This was the first wicket of Mukesh’s IPL career. After this, Bhanuka Rajapaksa was run out by a brilliant throw from Dhoni. He could score nine runs in five balls. After this, Liam Livingstone and Shikhar Dhawan batted vigorously. Both of them shared a partnership of 95 runs in 52 balls for the third wicket.

Liam Livingstone also received two life sentences. First Ambati Rayudu dropped his easy catch at third man, then Dhoni almost took the catch of Liam Livingstone behind the wicket, but the ball slipped from his hand during the dive. After this, Liam Livingstone scored a half-century in 27 balls. It was the first half-century of his IPL career. In this innings, he also hit a 108 meter long six.

Punjab’s score after 14 overs was 142 for 4 wickets. After this, he only added 38 runs in his account in the next 6 overs and also lost 4 wickets. Punjab lost their 5th wicket on 146, 6th on 151, 7th on 161 and 8th on 176.

Chris Jordan and Dwaine Pretorius took two wickets for Punjab. Mukesh Choudhary, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja scalped a dismissal each. It has been a poor start to this year’s campaign by the defending champions, who lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2022 season opener.

After the defeat to KKR, CSK followed it up with a defeat to debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), losing by six wickets. CSK are currently eighth in the 10-team standings, with Punjab in seventh place. In the ongoing season, PBKS won their opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five wickets, but fell to a six-wicket defeat against KKR.
