Fans witnessed a quite dominating performance of Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians at IPL 2021. Chasing a total of 156, KKR easily won the match against MI with 7 wickets in hand. Interestingly, they won the match with 29 balls remaining.

Even though Mumbai Indians‘ skipper, Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave them a great start, the middle order failed to take them to a high total because of some excellent bowling by Kolkata Knight Riders. Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna, both claimed two wickets for KKR.

Coming to chase, MI got a surprise package as opener Venkatesh Iyer posted a quick fire fifty. He was well supported by Rahul Tripathy, who although got lucky, remained unbeaten and posted 74 runs in just 24 deliveries.

With this win, KKR has climbed to the fourth spot in the points table of IPL 2021. On the other hand, MI is now down at the sixth place because of a negative run-rate.

KKR certainly didn’t enjoy a great start in IPL 2021. They lost five out of their initial seven games and many thought that they were not going to do well this year. However, they are outside the bottom four of the points table for the first time after their back-to-back victories in IPL 2021. In addition, they currently have a positive net run-rate.

It will not be less than an incredible comeback if KKR manages to finish inside the top-4 teams at the end of IPL’s league stage. Will they be able to beat the odds and win the Cup for the third time this year?
